Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is the most important – Bill Gates
This year has been different for everyone because of the pandemic. It has affected all aspects, not only our country but also all countries in the world, especially when it comes to our education.
On May 18th, our Computer Primary department held the Computer Practical Test. This practical test is the annual test that is done every semester. The goal of this activity is to stimulate pupils’ understanding not only in theoretical but also in their practice especially when they use technology as a tool these days.
The practical test was done per level. It started from 18 to 24 May 2021. The pupils were asked to do the practical online and using Google tools.
For Primary 1, the topic is “Coloring is Fun”. The pupils needed to color some pictures given by the teacher. For Primary 2, the topic is “Typing using Google Form”. So, the pupils typed in the online program. All pupils were excited to do the practical. Meanwhile, for Primary 3, they did the practical about “How to use google docs instead of MS Word”. They typed and used the explore button to search images on the internet.
The higher Primary also conducted their different topics in the practical test. Primary 4 pupils were doing a practical about “Presentation using Google Slides”. Primary 5 were having their practical test about “Google Sheets instead of using MS Excel”, and the last but not least, Primary 6 pupils were doing a practical about “Presentation using Google Slides”.
All practical tests were done successfully. As every practice is a learning process, this practical test is always done to make sure that pupils understand more about how to use technology instead of the programs that they know so that they can apply it in real life. Online learning and using technology are the solutions for education so far in this pandemic. However, it is just a tool like Bill Gates said. The teacher is the most important.
