Math & Science Competition 2021

Maths and Science Competition

Maths and Science are the two subjects which primary school students usually have interest to study. Sometimes it is a big challenge for students in this pandemic situation. Our school wanted to make activity more fun for students to do online. All teachers of both subjects have an event for the students to compete and participate, which support the students to be more active and to be a thinker.

Saint Nicholas School PIK has its own way to educate its students towards becoming skillful and willing to learn Maths and Science in fun and interesting way. Saint Nicholas School PIK held an event themed “When learners become thinkers” for primary school students of Grades 1 to 6. The competition was held online by using QUIZIZZ and ZOOM. Students had so much fun during the competition even though it was virtual.

The event was held in three days, starting from Monday, March 29th to Wednesday, March 31st . The first day was for Primary 1 and 2 students, followed by Primary 3 and 4 on the second day and last but not least Primary 5 and 6 students on the last day. There were 15 multiple choice questions for the participants to be done correctly. The participants were required to join www.joinmyquizizz.com from their browser, then they needed to input the code to join the competition given by the host. After that, they input their name and class to identify themselves. When all the participants had joined in the host guided them. The competition started right after the host clicked the start button on the QUIZIZZ.

“I am so ready and excited for this competition”, Said Kimberly Halim P3C. Some students said they were nervous and relieved after the competition was over. “I am so Ready”, said Edbert Primary 2A student.

“Hopefully, after the competition, the students will be more energize and excited in doing the online class for both subjects Math and Science” said Ms. Nora.

“I hope that every student will be a great thinker in class for Math and Science and they will enjoy the classes in the next term” said Mr. Daniel.

The announcement of the winners was held on Monday April 5th, 2021 via zoom. There were 3 winners from each level. Each of the winner were awarded with a trophy, certificate and medal. We hope that all the participants would give a great impact to the other learners at school and to be skillful in Maths and Science.

Easter and Outreach

Easter and Outreach Culminating Activity

Giving back is as good for you as it is for those you are helping, because giving gives you purpose. When you have a purpose-driven life, you’re a happier person — Goldie Hawn

Here we are again at that wonderful time of the year we know as Easter. Jesus Christ rose from the dead! What an amazing time to celebrate with everyone that is dear to us.

This past year has been different for everyone because of the pandemic. It has affected all aspects of our country, especially when it comes to our economy. The largest recession in history, together with disruption to factories and logistics, leads each of us to adjust to our finances. But as they say, ‘Every cloud has a silver lining,’ so the school has decided to still push through with the Outreach Program, which is already a tradition we have been doing over the years. Parents and pupils have donated a good amount of money (Rp 22.700.000) to our chosen orphanage: Yayasan Panti Asuhan Suaka Kasih Bunda.

On the 5th of April 2021, we have invited all the orphans, Saint Nicholas School pupils, and teachers to join our online celebration. Pastor Flora had delivered and shared a story about Jesus’s suffering and His resurrection. There were performances from both foundations. Live singing by the orphans, and a dance presentation from selected primary pupils from Primary 1 to 6.

An online quiz through Quizizz was conducted and all pupils participated. All the questions were all about Jesus and the Easter celebration. Five pupils were lucky to score a prize. There was also an easter egg painting activity for everyone who had joined the program. Mr. Satrio, our Arts teacher had demonstrated how to decorate the easter egg. As the climax of the program, we transferred the donated amount collected live to the account of the orphanage.

Happiness is found in helping others. Through this program, the pupils have learned to show love and care to others.
